![]() ![]() Once you become aware of the programmes that are running your mind and determine the way you think feel and behave - then you can start to change them.If you can, cast your mind back to your initial views on hypnosis. ![]() To take you out of the trance that you, or others, have put you into. In reality - you could argue that the job of the hypnotist is actually to "Unypnotise" you. Sub-conscious programming - by the media, PR agencies, political propaganda, advertising, education are all attempts to mislead and control us - telling us how we should think, feel and behave. Instead of allowing ourselves to be "programmed" for the benefit of others you can take control - advertise to your own mind and use the power of self-hypnosis to achieve your own goals - to abolish stress, anxiety or depression, to have more self-esteem or self confidence, to be more calm and in control, to have a positive and powerful mindset for success. Next to intentionally using self-hypnosis to consciously make changes for our own benefit and well-being, we are constantly being bombarded by negative messages. It is a fantastic tool for leaders to use in their daily lives for simple everyday issues such as stress, presentation, public speaking or interview nerves or major issues such as anger management, phobias, depression and anxiety. Hypnosis is a powerful vehicle through which we can tackle the obstructions in our subconscious and permanently banish them from our lives. In hypnotherapy, the hypnotist guides the client into the state. However, the client is in complete control of their thoughts, and can break the state whenever they want to, or simply refuse to accept suggestions. Like, for example, on that car trip mentioned previously - if a child were to run in front of the car, the driver would instantly become focused on the road, break the trance state and stop! That’s what it’s like in hypnosis. ![]() Nobody can make you do anything you do not want to do. When we desire to make a lasting, positive change in our lives, it is these subconscious patterns that we must change. It is these deeply held subconscious patterns and beliefs that drive our decisions and shape our lives. Within the subconscious mind resides our imagination, emotions, memories, habits, and our most deeply held beliefs about ourselves and what is possible for us. We all know that it is the subconscious part of the mind that controls 90% of what we do, and has the most profound impact on who we are and who we ever hope to become. It is because of this heightened state of mind that you can use hypnosis to make changes to your self beliefs, and patterns of thinking safely and naturally. Far from being asleep or unaware, hypnosis is a state in which you are both deeply relaxed yet have a heightened level of suggestibility as well as a focused awareness. For example, when driving a car and getting from A to B without even realising how you got there, or watching TV when you are so engrossed in what you are watching – you can still hear other things, but you are totally focused on what you’re watching. You may be surprised that hypnosis is merely a state of deep relaxation - a natural state that we all go into several times a day without even realising it. Most of you do not realise that that you are being hypnotised all the time, and even hypnotising yourself! So how does this work, and what exactly is hypnosis. With all our modern knowledge, new technology and research into the mind and body, many people still fear the thought of being hypnotised - of somebody having control of your mind and making you cluck like a chicken or do something silly in front of a load of people. Last week I wrote about how hypnosis can help with depression. Many people are sceptical about hypnosis and had a lot of questions, so today I’m going to explain a little more about what it is and how it works. Hypnosis is NOT Mind Control, so what is it? ![]()
